Public skate update

In March of 2025 the Rolling Meadows Park District will be changing registration sofware. This will affect any skaters in our Public Skate pass holders.

Any skater wanting to use a season pass for public skate will need to create an account in our new Civic Rec software program. If you have a current public skate pass, your access will be transfered to your new account, but you still need to create your account in Civic Rec.

Click on the logo to the left to create your Civic Rec account.

Come enjoy our popular Public Skate sessions at the Rolling Meadows Nelson Sports Complex and the West Meadows Ice Arena. Our affordable pricing and fun atmosphere are perfect for both beginners as well as the more experienced skater. With themed music nights, walking aids to help beginners and experienced guards to ensure your safety, Rolling Meadows Public Skate really is the COOLEST place in town!

Importance of Ice Maintenance

We sincerely value our community's use of our rinks and the shared commitment to maintaining them as safe and enjoyable spaces for everyone. To ensure the quality and safety of the ice for all users, consistent and thorough ice maintenance is critical. This involves tasks such as measuring and recording ice thickness, edging, shaving, and adding water to maintain the ideal ice condition. Proper ice thickness reduces wear and tear on key systems, including compressors, HVAC units, the rink infrastructure, and the ice resurfacer. This not only improves safety and quality for users but also allows us to provide reliable, high-quality ice while conserving energy.

A less visible but essential aspect of ice maintenance is air quality management. After 2–3 hours of ice work, the building's HVAC system must restore safe air conditions for patrons. Safety remains our top priority, which is why the rink may occasionally appear unused following maintenance...we're just preparing for our next users.
